Kelly was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado..... ".... I grew up in a very 'musical' family... my grandmother was a concert pianist and my mother was a professional singer. At the age of three I joined my mom and two older siblings as part of a live show at "The Flying W Ranch" (featuring an Old West chuckwagon supper and musical show) in Colorado Springs. We sang the music of the 'old west' and that music is still dear to me. Eventually, I received formal musical training both privately and in school as I studied the cello and played in a symphony orchestra. I was awarded a full music scholarship to the University of Southern Colorado. While studying classical music I also learned to play the guitar and other fretted instruments. I was a member of various bands and we played the local 'watering holes' in a four-state area. I also started doing a lot of recording as a session player and gradually started to write and produce soundtrack music for various film and video companies. After an invitation from a record company in San Francisco. I relocated my family there in the late '80s. I spent seven years in San Francisco and enjoyed scoring music for a wide variety of projects from feature-film to national advertising spots. "In 1995, I moved back home to Colorado Springs where I continue to score music for various film and video producers." |
